Heaven has no happiness
As tortured as our own.
Perhaps a lack of tenderness
Presumes that we're full grown.
Years may filter yearnings;
However, they remain
Our gift and our redemption,
Lest we love in vain.
In all there is a goodness
Deep down dark and drear,
A self that would be selfless
Yet won't because of fear,
Silent yet still here.
