P olicy or personality?
R elatively, which deserves more weight?
E ach can make or break a presidency,
S haring boos or kudos for its fate.
I n voting, one once chose which quality
D emanded greater fear or hope. Of late,
E lectorates eschew reality,
N ot open to the truth of either trait.
T he point, instead, becomes identity,
S ustaining which will voters motivate,
D evouring moral ambiguity
A s policy and personality
Y ield to passion, prejudice, and hate.
