S ing of
the holidays that end the year!
E ach cause for celebration and reflection.
A s darkness rules the earth, sing of good cheer,
S ustained by will and nourished by affection.
O f Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's Eve,
N ow sing that you might magnify the light!
S ing, for in your joy you will believe,
G ranted grace throughout the bitter night.
R ekindle for these holidays the fire
E ach carries on the hearthstone of the heart,
E loquent of rapture and desire
T ended well by long-familiar art.
I n quest of fellowship and common feeling,
N eeding company, nor care concealing,
G iving and receiving equal measure,
S ing, then, of passion, faith, and simple pleasure!
