Thirty-six learns much from measuring seeds,
Having found that function fashions form.
In microcosms she can see the whole
Reflected in the ripples of the role,
The wave imprinted on the sandy norm,
Yielding texts the patient scholar reads.

So do these ancient grains reveal the soul
Interred beneath an earth that breaks and bleeds,
Xeroxes of testaments long gone.
