There Is No Virtue in Consistency

There is no virtue in consistency, However much it might be prized by fools. Each choice should be made pragmatically, Yielding better odds with fewer rules. Ends worth pursuing should be worth achieving. A timid heart sustains a timid mind. Return the gifts you came with before leaving, Or leave your unspent fortune to the wind. Fear not your foes, but like a tiger fight To win, whatever tactic it might take. Have sufficient passion for the right, Embracing wrong, if need be, for its sake. The best one might accomplish is no good If unaccomplished. Use your teeth and claws! Greatness speaks in shalls instead of shoulds. Evil never fights with padded paws. Resist it, then, in vain with padded laws. Copyright by Nicholas Gordon. Free for personal or non-commercial use. |
